Burst Live

When the COVID-19 pandemic moved Helsinki’s May Day celebrations online in 2020, we had the honor of building Finland’s largest internet event. We designed and developed the web user interface for JVG’s virtual concert venue, burst.fi, on a remarkably tight schedule. We created an interactive platform where viewers could design their own avatars and send real-time reactions straight to the broadcast, making the virtual gig a truly two-way experience. The frontend was built with React, and the integrations were powered by serverless technology using Amazon AWS Lambda. With the event attracting a massive 700,000 viewers and the site hosting 150,000 visitors in a short time, scalability and reliability were critical. By leveraging AWS cloud architecture, we ensured the platform handled the massive traffic spike flawlessly, providing Finns with a memorable, safe, and highly engaging virtual May Day celebration.
