A smooth digital service for consumers and professionals

Saarioinen is a beloved and inseparable part of Finnish food culture, present in everything from quick everyday lunches to traditional Christmas dinners. We revamped the saarioinen.fi website into a smooth and technically robust service that effortlessly caters to both hungry consumers and efficiency-driven kitchen professionals.

the challeneg

Saarioinen’s previous website worked well, so our goal was to take their digital experience to the next level. We focused on introducing modern workflows, improving accessibility and search engine visibility, and refreshing the site’s content and visual identity. The main challenge was catering to broad and diverse audiences: consumers looking for an emotional connection to food and everyday inspiration, and food service and retail professionals who need accurate product information and recipes.

We wanted to create a service that engages, activates, and serves its users. A key goal was to maximize technical performance for high traffic volumes, ensure WCAG-compliant accessibility, and boost search engine visibility. Visually, we aimed to build a flexible platform where Saarioinen’s various sub-brands – like the high-quality Bistro ready meals or the rustic Dronningholm jams – could showcase their unique personalities.

the solution

We built the new website on a solid WordPress platform using our Evermade Studio solution. This combination enables data-driven development and a seamless customer experience. While Saarioinen’s familiar brand remained unchanged, our design highlighted its strenghts digitally better than ever before.

To serve different user groups smoothly, we divided the site into distinct sections for consumers, professionals, and ‘About Us’ information. This allowed us to offer highly targeted content: a visually strong and vibrant experience for consumers, and clear, easy-to-browse data views for professionals.

technical implementation

The technical implementation required extensive data transfers and consolidation. We migrated around 500 existing recipes and articles from the old site. We built integrations to automatically fetch product details from the Adeona PIM system and open positions from the Laura recruitment system. To boost search engine visibility, we utilized structured data and Schema markup.

As part of a modern user experience, we added and AI-powered assistant that interactively guides consumers in selecting recipes and products. Saarioinen also wanted to heavily invest in security, so a third-party penetration test was conducted. The excellent results reflect the high quality of our technical work.

The new saarioinen.fi is a highly optimized, secure, and accessible digital service. The technical search engine optimization and site loading speed are now at an excellent level—crucial for a website with large visitor volumes. The end result is a service that supports strategic business growth and solidifies Saarioinen’s position as an industry pioneer.
