Our strategic partnership with Valio covers the consumer-facing valio.fi website, the Valio mobile app, and a multisite ecosystem of dozens of brand and country-specific sites. We started working together in the fall of 2022 when Valio needed a modern content management system to meet their growing scalability demands. What began as a website redesign has evolved into a continuous partnership driven by a unified team. This ensures a deep understanding of their business, absolute delivery confidence, and cost-effective continuous development.

Valio is one of the Finland’s strongest brands, setting a high bar for their digital presence. After the initial website redesign, the challenge was building an entire digital ecosystem to meet modern consumer demands. Valio aims to be Finland’s most inspiring food media. This requires a deep understanding of user journeys and the ability to deliver personalized, high-value content to millions of Finns. Our strategic focus is shifting the consumer buying journey: instead of relying on search engine results, we aim to engage users directly and actively within Valio’s own digital channels.

Transforming into a comprehensive digital food media requires a partner capable of managing large-scale operations and reacting quickly when needed. It is about trust and delivering on the brand promise in every digital interaction. Valio needed a partner who understands how to leverage technology to support their brand reputation and how to build a scalable architecture that grows with their business. We partnered with them to build an ecosystem where every recipe, products, and interaction strenghtens Valio’s position as an industry pioneer. At the same time, we ensure complete operational reliability and a seamless user experience across all channels.

Our solution seamlessly integrates design and technology to drive measurable growth. We base all our decisions on continuous user testing, data, and a deep understanding of consumer needs. We built a comprehensive, living design system for Valio that ensures visual brand consistency and a unified user experience across all digital touchpoints. We use regular Feature Discovery workshops to proactively ideate new functionalities, ensuring the platform is always ready for what’s next.

On the technical side, we built valio.fi and dozens of country and brand sites as a multisite solution utilizing a shared codebase. This enables centralized maintenance and compotent reuse while still allowing for brand-specific customization. WordPress acts as a robust backend for the React Native mobile app, ensuring unified design and data serve consumers seamlessly regardless of the channel. We ensure business-critical stability with a high-availability infrastructure and rapid incident response. This guarantees Valio’s digital storefront is always fast and accessible, even during major traffic spikes.

Our collaboration has evolved from traditional project delivery into a true strategic partnership where we work as one team with Valio. We manage this continuous development in four-month cycles using an applied OKR model, ensuring the seamless integration of strategy, design, and technology.
